We offer our custom bioinformatics option with a local bioinformatics scientist for novice users or users wishing to discuss their own data. Course Description: This course guides advanced Torrent Variant Caller users through tuning the Torrent Variant Caller plug-in to meet their lab's needs. While the default parameter settings provide a starting point for users of the different Variant Caller pipelines, advanced users may wish to adapt the caller to their data or to achieve a specific desired balance between sensitivity and specificity of the caller. The course will begin by describing the Torrent Variant Caller algorithm. In the second section, we will identify a course of action to address false negative calls. We will describe how to identify which filters (if any) eliminated a particular variant call. Lastly, we will describe the parameters one can tune in order to relax or further constrain the caller.
