NGS-238: Ion S5™ and Ion S5™ XL Systems Workflow Training (2 Days)
P/N: P/N: 4476721
Who Should Attend?
This class is designed for first-time users of the Ion S5™ and Ion S5™XL Systems, or novice users wishing to have additional or refresher training. Attendees will benefit from having training in a class environment, hands-on experience in the laboratory, as well as interaction with fellow attendees and application scientists over a 2-day period.
This class assumes attendees have prior knowledge of basic molecular biology concepts, including theory of PCR design and applications and experience with basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting and working with solutions. Ownership of an Ion S5™ or Ion S5™ XL System (or belonging to a laboratory that has purchased a system) is a prerequisite for registration. Ideally, individuals have already participated in the live, online System and Library Training, although this is not mandatory. If this is the first training after instrument purchase, it is mandatory to have your instrument fully operational; being able to use the instrument right after the training helps ensure the best use of your time. Course
This course provides an intensive overview of the Ion Torrent™ technology. Course topics include an overview of instrument operation and hardware, library preparation, Ion Sphere™ particles preparation and deposition, quality control runs, troubleshooting, and data analysis. An overview of the chemistry used in the Ion Torrent system will be provided, which is critical for understanding the system and troubleshooting. Hands-on training includes initiating and monitoring sequencing runs during class, and creating Ion Sphere™ particles for template preparation using the Ion Chef™ System. Please note, we will NOT be able to use customer samples. Tuition includes laboratory reagents, consumables, course materials, breakfast, and lunch. Travel and other incidental expenses relating to the training are the responsibility of the attendee.
NOTE: Registration for these classes closes one week before the start date. For more information or to schedule your class, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
