NGS-228: Ion DNA Library Preparation Training (1 day)
Who Should Attend?
Designed for individuals preparing genomic and/or amplicon DNA libraries for sequencing on the Ion Torrent™ Personal Genome Machine™ and seeking detailed knowledge of the molecular biology techniques used for DNA library construction. Attendees will benefit by having training in a class environment, hands-on lab practicals, and interaction with fellow attendees and Ion Torrent application scientists during lecture, discussion, and lab sessions.
This class assumes attendees have prior knowledge of biological systems and basic experience with laboratory techniques such as pipetting and PCR.
A 1-day course involving classroom and laboratory sections for DNA library construction for sequencing on the Ion Torrent™ Personal Genome Machine™. Attendees will gain hands-on experience in constructing a DNA fragment library using control genomic DNA, and learn about different methods for shearing and size-selection, library quality assessment, amplification, quantification and troubleshooting. Class discussion also reviews amplicon library construction. (Please note, we will NOT be able to use customer samples for library construction during this course.) Information and strategies for different sequencing applications and how these relate to library construction and preparation of genomic samples will also be discussed.
Tuition includes laboratory reagents, consumables, course materials, and breakfast and lunch. Travel and other incidental expenses relating to the training are the responsibility of the attendee. NOTE: Registration for these classes close one week before the start date.
